The Results of my Survey

My Survey

I did a survey asking people their opinions about life.  I asked the following questions and got the following results.

Yes and No Questions and the Results

1.  Have people ever thought about life and its meaning before?

78% said yes.  It is kind of strange that some didn't think about it before, because when I asked them the long answer questions, all of them came up with good answers.

2.  Is life an illusion?

100% said no.  I expected that.

3.  Have people ever thought that you were the only real person and all other people were fake?

This is a surprise; 28% of the people I interviewed said yes!  As a matter of fact sometimes, I do too.  Sometimes, i think that everyone else is a space alien trying to take over the world.  By the way, all you space aliens, I DENY EVERYTHING!

That's all the yes and no questions.  Now moving on to the more interesting part of the survey...

Long Answer Questions

1.  What does it mean for someone to be alive?

When I asked people this, I got some long, medium and short answers, all of which are true, in a way.  Here's a small sample of the answers:

"You have to have your own opinion, not be a follower, just have your own opinion, not sit on a couch."

"I think that being alive, like, is sort of to show God that you're worthy to go to Heaven."

"Energetic... happy... healthy, hopeful, experiencing life to the fullest."

"To be totally present to what they're doing at the moment."

"Being aware of the questions that people have, being alive is to every day worship God."

"To be alive is to be enjoying life on many levels, certainly relationships with God, and others and having a purpose.  To be living is knowing that your life has meaning and it counts."

"Breathing."

"Well, 'course there's being phisically alive, intelectually alive and spiritually alive.  Phisically basically means that your heart is pumping and you're breathing.  Being intelectually alive means being conscious.  And being more intelectually alive is to be self-aware and aware of one's context.  To be spiritually alive means to have and nurture an existance that transcends phisical life.  To be truly spiritually alive, it seems to me necessary to have a conscious relationship with God."

2.  What parts of life are most precious to you?

Here's a small sample of the answers people came up with:

"Having family and friends around me and being able to do the things I like to do."

"The fact that this is just the beginning of what is yet to come (in heaven)."

"Relationships are important, but experiencing simple things like a beautifull morning, a really good meal, when life is rich and full, going tobogganingwith my kids, backyard hockeywith my kids, a good book, a movie..."

"The opprotunity to grow and contribute in love, relationships, abilities, and the experience of a truly spiritual life fo myself and others."

Pretty interesting, huh?

A very special thanks to everyone that helped me and everyone that I interviewed!
